Amazon Launching Online Live Pay TV Service
Amazon getting in touch with famous media companies for licensed content to carry their channels live.
The e-commerce company, Amazon, had discreetly been contacting huge media companies for a while, such as Comcast’s NBCUniversal and CBS Corp. to attain licensed content in order to generate live streaming. The company is starting its online TV service.
Many other media organizations in the business have also confirmed the news about Amazon searching for a live video streaming service according to Dan Raybum who wrote on his Streaming Media blog. These efforts are not new; sources confirm that the e-commerce company has been having these meetings with NBCU and CBS since months now.
The retail chain’s business will prove to be beneficial from the online streaming. Amazons Web services will have more to offer to the audience other than shopping. The expansion of the services to video entertainment will boost the net income of the company, especially live streaming, which is starting to become a trend. This is what the consumers are demanding from the digital media since a while now.
The retailers’ competitors will be AT&T and others. It is not the only company taking the online pay TV services into account, other such as Sony and Apple as well, leading to believe that this will be huge market of competitors.
The online retailer already has a service of VOD now but it wants to offer live TV to their audiences. It is making entertainment a priority for its customers as well. It still is blurry how the live streaming complimentary service from Amazon would look like and what good it might be to the market, considering the fact that too many companies are going toward the idea of live streaming. It will ultimately become an ordinary service.
This will increase subscriptions as well. Amazon also just signed a deal with Jeremy Clarkson, ex-host of ‘Top Gear’, in order to create a new motor show for Amazon Prime subscription service. It announced that it will launch six TV shows for its video streaming services in the previous month but they will be available on a small scale in the beginning only in countries, such as US, UK, Germany, and Austria. All the companies have refused to comment on anything for now.
Amazon was considering live TV since 2014. The only difference was other companies signing contracts with the e-commerce company for live streaming never came into light. Online Pay TV service will be another source of entertainment for the company’s customers.
Amazons Stock closed at $541.66 on October 7.
