Apple Succeeds In Poaching Another Tesla Employee
Another Tesla employee makes his way to Apple.
Apple Inc. is adding to its talent pool where it is building its auto-engineering team. The company is hiring new employees that have rendered their services to the automotive giants.
The tech giant has a history of poaching the employees of Tesla Motors. As per Electrek, the Apple iPhone maker has recruited Mr. Chris Porritt, the former Vice President of Tesla Motors for a special project. As per the publication, this special venture is the much hyped auto project of Apple namely Titan. Mr. Porritt has a diversified portfolio and has also worked at Aston Martin earlier.
Since the company has now recruited a renowned personnel who has substantial experience in the automotive fraternity has added to the rumors for the potential launch of an Apple Car. As per numerous publications, the Apple Car is likely to surface somewhere in FY19 and the car might not have autonomous functionalities. This actually makers Apple’s car a direct competitor to Tesla who is already doing quite well in this domain.
Mr. Musk has appreciated Apple for making a debut in the automotive fraternity since it fulfils the desire of Musk regarding auto electrification. On the other hand, Mr. Musk is not content with Apple for poaching Tesla employees by incentivizing them with high salaries and bonuses. Apple has a history of poaching employees since it did something similar last year for the battery manufacturing company, A123.
As per a report that surfaced in January, Mr. Steve Zadesky, the former executive of Fords Motor Company who was leading the automotive venture at AAPL has finally bid farewell to the company. As per the tech giant, Mr. Zadesky’s decision to leave the company is based upon personal reasons. From the time of his departure, the recruitment of Mr. Porritt is being considered to be a substitute of the Zadesky. The arrival of Mr. Porritt has resulted in immense traction for the company. Moreover, the model designs that have been published in Motor Trend, a car magazine has also added to Titan’s traction .
The designer team of the automotive magazine was asked to come up with the sketches of a possible Apple Car and they actually came up with intriguing designs.
This is not it, the auto project of Apple has come under the limelight since Allgemeine Zeitung, a Germany based newspaper talked about the company’s secretive automotive venture. As per the sources, the company is coming up with a research and development (R&D) laboratory that would be housed in Berlin. For this reason, the tech behemoth has also recruited 20 auto engineers who have diverse skills and backgrounds to render their services in the sales, software, hardware and engineering domains.
The newspaper further talked about the company’s plan to take assistance from Magna Steyr AG & Co, to manufacture an electric car. So far the company did not comment on the rumors when AppleInsider approached them.
The competition is extremely crucial in the automotive fraternity where all companies are striving to get the best talent for the development of their futuristic cars.
